A Summer Reset for Your Mind, Body & Planet: Jade’s 7-Day Green & Digital Detox Challenge

d let me tell you: this summer, I decided to do things different. Not because it’s trendy or because the internet told me to (ironically), but because my mind, my body, and even my spirit were sending me signals: slow down, get present, and reconnect.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love my tech. But between swiping, scrolling, and “just checking one more thing,” I was spending more time watching life than actually living it. And that, my friends, didn’t sit right with me. Plus, I started noticing how much waste I was creating without thinking, plastic cups here, food waste there. It was all adding up, not just around me, but inside me.
So here’s the experiment I’m inviting you into:
a 7-day Green & Digital Reset. It’s simple, it’s doable, and I promise, your mind will feel clearer, your body lighter, and your energy calmer. Let’s talk about why it matters and how to start.
Why This Reset Matters
Lately, experts have been sounding the alarm—not just on the planet’s health, but on ours. In fact, did you know that this summer, kids—yes, kids—have been cutting their own screen time to cope with anxiety and mental health? (The Guardian, July 2025). If Gen Z is checking themselves, shouldn’t we too?
On top of that, sustainable living is getting a summer glow-up. More folks are asking: how can I live greener without turning my life upside down? Simple changes like using reusable water bottles, eating seasonal fruits like watermelon, and reducing plastic are trending for a reason—they work (NY Post, July 2025).
I realized I needed both: a break from the endless pings of my phone and a lighter, greener footprint. And honestly, one helped the other.
Jade’s Dual Reset Plan
Here’s the two-part strategy I tried—and now, I’m sharing it with you:
The Eco Reset
Hydrate naturally: Ditch sugary drinks and load up on water, flavored naturally with cucumber, mint, or lemon.
Seasonal fruits: Watermelon, berries, and cucumbers are high in water and refresh you from the inside out.
Bye-bye plastic: Invest in a sturdy reusable bottle and commit to using it. No plastic forks or single-use cups if you can help it.
Compost your scraps: Even if it’s just keeping a container in the freezer for peels and scraps, it counts.
The Digital Reset
Morning Mindset Check: Don’t touch your phone for the first hour you’re awake. Instead, breathe, stretch, or journal.
No-Scroll Zones: The bathroom, dinner table, and your bed? Scroll-free sanctuaries.
App Limits: Use your phone’s time limits to cap social media or entertainment apps.
Tech-Free Walks: At least once a day, take a 15-minute walk with NO devices. Just you and the world.
Why This Works for Your Mental Health
When you step away from the screen and into intentional habits, your nervous system starts to reset. Our brains were never meant to process this much information non-stop. Constant notifications keep your mind hyper-vigilant, spiking stress hormones like cortisol.
Meanwhile, taking care of your environment—like reducing waste or eating seasonally—creates a subtle but powerful psychological shift: it reminds you that you have agency. That you can contribute to something larger than yourself, which builds both hope and resilience.

Start your day with no phone—just 10 deep breaths.
Switch one meal a day to be plastic-free.
Take one daily walk tech-free.
Set one social app timer—limit it to 30 mins max.
Share one tip with a friend—you’ll reinforce your new habits.
